Friday Links

The Icemen come to town tonight after the Solar Bears snapped their four game win streak earlier this week. Obviously, this game is going to be exciting thanks to the Everblades current win streak. To hold you over until 7:30, here’s your weekly helping of links. Enjoy.

– Sometimes the weirdest Everblades things get put on eBay.

– Your Wikipedia hockey page for today: Professional Ice Hockey.

– You guys know I love hockey cakes. This one is pretty cute.

Random hockey trivia.

– OK, this is pretty awesome. Mostly because beer and hockey is a perfect combination.

– Your tweet of the week was easy to pick because… Ratchuk at forward is always fantastic news!

– Is it weird that I want to go to this?

– Kitty time!

Like I said, I’m really back on the blogging wagon. That means, I’m back with your weekly dose of random links!

– The photos from Wednesday’s game are up. Check ’em out here.

– In a move that is only surprising by how long it took to happen, Brayden Irwin’s been signed to a PTO with the Norfolk Admirals.

– In related news, Maxime Parent has finally recovered enough from his surgery to play again. The best news? According to his Twitter, he plays tonight.

– This week’s tweet of the week is proof that living in Florida will eventually turn you into a grumpy retiree. Case in point:

– Sometimes you find Everblades fans in the oddest places. Case in point: the United Kingdom.

– I bet you guys missed your weekly dose of hockey cakes the most:

These pillows are just another piece that needs to be added to my (imaginary) hockey cave.

I have to be honest, I’m still riding high from Wednesday’s Blades win. The guys managed to chase the third best goalie in the league at the moment and battled back every time the Jackals started to change momentum. It really was a thing of beauty. It has definitely made me pumped for tonight. Even sitting through the inevitable traffic hell that is the I-75 Daniels overpass right now is going to be worth it if they bring what they brought tonight. Until then, why night enjoy your weekly dose of links (that I almost forgot)?

– Another reason to be excited about tonight? The Blades are wearing the specialty military jerseys tonight. You may have noticed them at Wednesday’s game, and honestly, I really like them. They’re also offering special discounted tickets for veterans and active military tonight as well.

– Has anyone noticed the Blades haven’t given out a bobble head in a few seasons? I guess I have to content myself with wasting money on old Blades Bobbles on eBay. Like this one. WHAT COULD BE MORE AWESOME THAN A ROB ZEPP BOBBLE HEAD GUYS?!

– The winner of this week’s tweet of the week was hard to pick, but I had to go with this one:

– Every week it seems like another ECHL team signs a player with NHL experience. Meanwhile, we’re about an hour and a half from two NHL franchises and can’t get one guy willing to commute. No bueno.

– The league fined one of Elmira’s players for “violating the leagues exclusive equipment policy”,which I’ve never seen happen before and I was not aware could actually happen. I looked through the photos I took and I can’t figure out what was wrong, but I’m far from an expert on hockey equipment styles and brands.

– A scarf may not be useful here in South Florida for anything other than those three super cold (and by super cold I mean Floridan cold: 50°), but it would be pretty cool to get this scarf in Blades colors.

– Puck Daddy did their own post on John Curry’s temper Tantrum. I don’t care who you are, that’s still funny.

– The Blades may be out of town, but you can still get your hockey fix at Germain. Day two of the Crocodile Cup starts today at 3:30.

– A tiny part of me is upset that a jersey was used to make this bag, but the res of me is pumped at the idea of a jersey bag for every team.

– The tweet of the week was hard, but Leigh Salters blew the rest of the guys out of the water with this simple little tweet last night. I think the hash tags make it twenty times better.

– $250 is  a little more than I’d like to spend on a game worn jersey, but hey, maybe one of you is a Peter Reynolds fan, I don’t know.

– I know it’s not Friday, but I couldn’t resist sharing this: Steve McJannet is still playing and still being himself.

– Which reminds me, your Wikipedia hockey page for today: Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey.

We finally hit the one month till hockey season mark people. We’ve managed to survive this long and we don’t have to limp along much longer. As always, here’s your weekly fix of random links.- I’m sure you’ve heard by now that the Bakersfield Condors offered Justin Beiber a contract. While everyone else was having a meltdown and pulling out chucks of hair over the worlds most obvious publicity stunt, some genius added the Beib to Elite Prospects.

– With the lockout looming, a lot of Floridian NHL fans are figuring out that their only chance at hockey this season may be the Blades or Solar Bears. That means that all the less than honest people flood eBay with product descriptions that aren’t exactly true. Take this for instance. The Blades have never worn warm-up jerseys before games (unlike the K-Wings and their spectacular McDonalds warm-ups).

I will always share this picture at any given opportunity. Always.

– Along those lines, here’s a story from the News-Press about how the NHL lock-out could affect the Blades.

– This is not hockey related, but this is the only way I have of remembering whether I should use affect or effect.

– I love this cake!

Here’s a story about former Everblade Jared Staal and the make or break season ahead of him.

– I must have these awesome hockey skate cookies delivered to me once a month!

– Your Wikipedia hockey page for today is further proof you’ll never know of every single professional hockey team to play in North America- “ Arkansas GlacierCats
